Fawkner sporting clubs and community members came together on Tuesday 8 August to celebrate the opening of female friendly facilities at Charles Mutton Reserve.
Merri-bek Mayor Cr Angelica Panopoulos and Minister for Community Sport, the Hon. Ros Spence MP officially opened the facilities.
The newly built female friendly changerooms, unisex umpire rooms and public accessible toilets have been welcomed by the Northern Saints Football Club, the Haig Football Club and the local community.
Our work, and the work of local sporting clubs, continues to increase junior, female and male participation in sport in Merri-bek.
Part of that increase is because we’ve created safe, accessible, and welcoming facilities, that keep players and officials engaged in sport and support future growth in participation from women and girls.
The upgrade of this facility will boost Charles Mutton Reserve’s capacity to host community sport and attract more sporting events to Merri-bek into the future.
