Glenroy Community Hub

The Glenroy Community Hub is an integrated health and lifelong learning centre designed to support, educate, and inspire locals at all stages of their life.

It is ‘a one-stop shop’ for residents to have access to Council and community-based services in Merri-bek’s north, all under one roof.

Location

Glenroy Community Hub is located at 50 Wheatsheaf Road, Glenroy.

Glenroy Library

The new library offers many new services and improved facilities for traditional service offerings; a garden for adults and another for children are examples.

  • A creative maker space; recording studio, and jam room are located in the heritage wing that once was the original Glenroy Primary School. 

  • The red-brick heritage wing includes a dedicated space for teens and young adults; it features a youth collection, lounge and screen games pod

Customer Service Centre 

The Council Help desk is in the library near the entrance at Bridget Shortell Reserve. Our friendly staff will answer your queries about Council services and help with payments and processes.

Maternal and Child Health Centre

Council’s dedicated nurses will nurture the health of infants, toddlers and their families in private consultations and in group programs including: playgroups, new parent groups, breastfeeding and sleep settling sessions.

Glenroy Hub Children's Centre

The Northern Schools Early Years Cluster offers families a new early childhood education and long day care service. The Glenroy Hub Childrens’ Centre delivers creative learning programs and integrated kindergarten, to educate children from 0 to 6.

Glenroy Memorial Preschool

Sessional Kindergarten programs are offered for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds. The Glenroy Memorial Preschool offers stimulating and fun learning experiences by a diverse group of teachers and educators. The kindergarten offers support to families in Arabic, Italian, Maltese, and Sinhalese.

  • Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) is a not-for-profit disability organisation that provides therapy service supporting individuals of all ages living with cerebral palsy and complex disabilities that result in movement, sensory processing and communication challenges.

    CPEC provides allied health services for participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

  • cohealth provides free support for the family members or loved ones affected by someone’s alcohol or drug or alcohol use.

    We aim to improve overall health, wellbeing and resilience of families and we offer practical support and information.

    Services are for anyone who is affected by someone’s alcohol or drug use.

  • Our cohealth Healthy Ageing Physiotherapists provide movement and exercise, manual therapy and education.

    In the older population their work is focused on falls prevention and maintaining mobility, strength and range of movement.

  • Our cohealth Healthy Ageing Podiatrists support the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet, ankles and lower limbs.

  • Healthy Eyes Optical provides bulk-billed (free) eye testing for community members of all ranges and stocks a range of low-cost lenses.

    Dr. Marrwa Hafez is passionate about the early detection and management of ocular disease, and has extensive experience in paediatric optometry.

    Services are open to all community members.

Glenroy Neighbourhood House

Adult and community education programs will be delivered by the Glenroy Neighbourhood House in an intimate and relaxed classroom space upstairs at the Glenroy Hub.  

The Glenroy Neighbourhood House also supports local management of the Glenroy Hub community garden and is eager for new volunteers.

Community meeting rooms

There are four meeting rooms available for hire at the Glenroy Community Hub, fully equipped with state-of-the-art projectors and screens. 

Rooms are available for hire for community events, celebrations and business functions, including after hours and at weekends.

Bridget Shortell Reserve

Bridget Shortell Reserve on Wheatsheaf Road is the Glenroy Community Hub’s front garden.

Upgraded with new landscaping and recreation facilities, the park now offers a children’s playground, barbeque area, and a new public sculpture by Merri-bek artist, Isadora Vaughan.

Take away café outlet coming soon

A social enterprise café will be established in a re-purposed shelter shed once a feature of the Glenroy Primary School.
