Trauma informed kickboxing - 16 Days of Activism
Merri-bek City council and the Conscious Combat Club (CCC) are partnering to bring you this free event to raise awareness of the 16 Days of Activism.
The CCC is a social enterprise that aims to empower women to reclaim their body, confidence and strength through trauma informed martial arts.
The CCC welcomes all women including trans women and non-binary people who identify with womanhood. In particular, we work with women who are survivors of gender-based violence.
The workshop will include:
- 30 minute presentation on the principles of trauma informed care and how to apply them to what you do during the 16 days of activism
- 45 minutes of kickboxing: Experiment with kickboxing movements as a vehicle to connect to your body, set boundaries and regulate your nervous system
- 15 minute debrief: Share what you learned, what you liked and what you can take into the your 16 days of activism
- 30 minutes to connect: Refuel with some snacks and refreshments while connecting with other Merri-bek locals!
