Nature Play Week 2025

Playing outside in nature is great for kids – and for their families too! This Nature Play Week there is lots to do in Merri-bek.

Join one of our play events, head to our libraries for nature activities and stories, or spend some quality time in a nature spot near you.

Nature Story times:

Join a nature themed story time and activity at one of our libraries or borrow some books to learn about nature.

Play events:

  • Recycled Seed Card Workshop
    Thursday 10 April, 10am – 11:30am
    Merlynston Progress Hall
    1 Novian Street, Coburg North

    In this fun workshop, children will get crafty with recycled paper to create colourful, seed-filled shapes —perfect for making greeting cards or planting in the garden!

    Once dry, the seed paper can be planted straight into soil to grow bee-friendly flowers. 

    Little Sprouts will provide a range of greeting cards for kids to decorate, just in time for Easter! 

    For ages: 3-12 (Children must be accompanied by an adult).

  • Nature Play at the Wetland
    Friday 11th April, 10am – 12pm
    Edgars Creek Wetland, 104-110 Newlands Road, Coburg North

    Get ready for a fun-filled outdoor adventure in the stunning Edgars Creek Wetland! We’ll be playing, crafting, and exploring while discovering the amazing wildlife that call this wetland home—including the rare and special Tussock Skink! 
    This event is supported by a DEECA Green Links grant supporting urban waterway restoration.
