Seniors Festival 2024
We are excited to celebrate this year's Victorian Seniors Festival theme 'Explore. Engage. Evolve’, encouraging all older Victorians to stay curious and connected by exploring new activities, meeting new people and changing how we think about ageing.
This year Merri-bek City Council will host a number of events in November (instead of October), due to the 2024 Council elections.

Registration for events will open in November. Here is a preview of some events to expect in November:
- Lee’s Café LGBTQIA+ Social Event (free)
When: Tuesday 12 November, 5 pm – 8 pm
Where: Glenroy Library 50 Wheatsheaf Road
Come along to the first of what will be a monthly LGBTQIA+ social event. Creative activities from the Busy Bees and a relaxed reading space with Silent Book Club Melbourne. Join us for inclusive fun, activities designed to foster genuine connections and provide a welcoming environment for all.
Refreshments provided. No registration required. - Elvis Forever (Free)
When: Wednesday 20th November,
Doors open 9.30am for a 10.30 performance
Where: Coburg Town Hall, 90 Bell St Coburg 3058
ENGAGE in the classic rock hits of singing swooner Elvis Presley, performed by the talented tribute artist Damian Mullins.
Includes light refreshments.
Registration opens - 1st November - Merri-bek Social Support Groups Open Day
When: Thursday 14th November, 10:30am to 1pm
Where: Newlands Seniors Centre, 49-53 Murray Rd Coburg 3058
ENGAGE in our chair-based exercises and crafts and explore our social hub. Light refreshments included . Registration opens 1st November. - Phillips Town Historical Walk
When: Tuesday 12th November, 11am - 12pm
Where: Start and finish at Union Hotel, Brunswick
Cost: $5
EXPLORE the rich history of Brunswick on a guided walking tour by Brunswick Historical Society. Easy walk. Coffee and information booklet included.
Places are limited, bookings essential. Bookings open 1st November. - Explore Flora and Fauna (Free)
When: Thursday 21st November, 10:30 am
Where: Coburg Lake, at car park - Newlands Road
Join our Open Space Conservation Programs Officer Charlotte, for a short and accessible 1.5km loop from Coburg Lake around Edgars Creek Wetlands.
Learn about the flora and fauna thriving in Merri-bek.
Light refreshments and Gardens for Wildlife book for all participants.
Places are limited, bookings essential. Bookings open 1st November. - “We are One” Multicultural Celebration and Performance (free)
When: Thursday 28th November
Where: Glenroy Community Hub, 50 Wheatsheaf Rd Glenroy
ENGAGE in a cultural and colourful musical extravaganza featuring traditional songs and dance from different ethnic seniors groups. Celebrate the EVOLUTION of the diverse family which makes up Merri-bek. No booking required - Merri-bek International Classical Film Festival
