Making it in Merri-bek Workshop - Planning for Access

Nearly 1 in 5 Australians live with Disability, but access is often put in the ‘too hard basket’. This discussion with Merri-bek based visual artist, Luke Duncan King, will provide practical advice on how to make your project or event inclusive and welcoming for Deaf and Disabled collaborators and audiences. You will learn what information you should provide, and where you can obtain support to make and present your work in accessible ways.

Luke King is a Deaf artist exhibiting at Counihan Gallery as part of Fever'Dreams. In addition to his creative career, he has extensive experience as an advocate for accessibility in arts events and practice.

Merri-Bek Arts Officer Margaret Mayhew will use their experience in Disability consulting to provide advice on how to embed Disabled consultation and access in arts projects.
